As one of our longest serving, well liked and much admired members, it was entirely fitting that in 2017 Swan was awarded the Joy Barnes Trophy Award for her painting of a coastal landscape. This award, chosen by the committee, is for an outstanding work in our annual exhibition. Continue reading Swan Lennard-Payne. Profile for 2018
Painting Day at Milton on Stour. 2nd June
Sue Hardy writes: It was a really lovely relaxed painting day & I’m so sorry so many couldn’t come because it was a good one.
It would have been even better with more people but I did suspect it might be so with half-term making for other committments.
Most of us sketched – pencil, pen & watercolour. Continue reading Painting Day at Milton on Stour. 2nd June

Ravilious was one of the most original and promising young artists in Britain in the 1930s. An official war artist in the Second World War his life was tragically cut short in a plane accident in 1942. Continue reading James Russell – Ravilious a life in pictures. 7-12-2017
Profile on Sue Hardy
On visiting Sue in her home for this profile I was greeted enthusiastically by her dog and the first picture that caught my eye was her painting of that dog. Pet portraits can often be disappointing but this one stands out as exceptional. It tells us so much not only about a much loved and loving pet, but also about Sue’s exceptional abilities as an artist. Continue reading Profile on Sue Hardy
