The aims of this competition are: To help promote and encourage Art at the five secondary schools in our area.
To increase awareness between schools of the art work others are producing, hoping this may spur increased interest, enthusiasm and creativity.
To encourage a link between young artists, their schools and the Bruton Art Society.
The competition is open to: GCSE students. At the following schools:
Ansford Academy
Bruton School for Girls
King Arthur’s School, Wincanton
King’s School Bruton
Sexeys’ Academy
The Head of the Art Department at each school has been invited to enter up to six works from the pupils in their 5th year.
Works can be in any medium acceptable to the examination boards used by the schools including three dimensional work and should be entered as JPEG images to be sent to the Bruton Art Society website by May 9th. They will then be exhibited on a special page and so will be accessible for everyone – including the students at all the schools.
A BAS judging committee will then visit each school on the 13th or 14th May to judge an overall winner and two runner-ups. The winner will be awarded a cheque for £50 and the two runner-ups prizes of £15 and certificates commending high quality work will also be given.
On Wednesday 21st May at around 3.30pm the student artists and their teachers will meet in the Market House, Castle Cary for a presentation of the prizes and certificates.
The results will be posted on the BAS website and reported in the local media.
